Nantucket – A Pictorial Guide

Nantucket is named from the Indian “Nanticut”, meaning “That far away Isle”. The island is approximately 14 miles long and has an average width of 3 1/2 miles. Its shape, like that of a huge whale flipping its tale, along with its natural beauty, symbolize the islands heritage – whaling and Quakerism.
